Pediatric Vaccination at Garnet Health

Would you do anything to keep your children safe and healthy? That’s why you may have installed baby locks on kitchen-cabinet doors when your young one started to crawl. It’s why you feed your little ones the healthiest meals and snacks. And it’s why we recommend your children receive timely vaccinations.

Vaccines are a simple, safe way to protect your children from a range of dangerous diseases. Vaccination is when a vaccine is given by injection with a syringe, drops in the mouth, or sometimes a nose spray. Immunization is sometimes used interchangeably with vaccination, but immunization refers to the process of developing immunity to a disease. Pediatric vaccines have been proven safe time and again, and their effectiveness helps set the stage for healthy development and growth. That’s why it’s critical to stay up to date on your child’s shots. The Garnet Health team can help you manage your child’s immunization, provide an age-based schedule for when vaccinations are required, and help you stay on track.

How Pediatric Vaccines Work

Childhood immunizations strengthen your child’s immune system by introducing an inactive or weakened version, or part of the virus or bacteria that can cause an infection. White blood cells in our blood help the body's immune system recognize the infection in the future and stimulate the body’s response to help avoid serious infections. As a result, your child is protected from diseases that once were debilitating or deadly.

Pediatric Vaccine Schedule

Staying on schedule with your child’s immunizations is vital. Doing so gives your child the best chance of avoiding preventable diseases. The providers at Garnet Health follow a dedicated childhood immunization schedule, and partner with parents and guardians to shield children from infections that include:

  • Chicken pox
  • Diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis
  • Haemophilus influenzae type b
  • Hepatitis B
  • Measles, mumps and rubella
  • Meningococcal and Meningococcal B
  • Pneumococcus
  • Rotavirus

The Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that children (and adults) follow an immunization schedule. This should be done from birth through adulthood, unless your doctor specifies otherwise. Your child will need only single doses of some vaccines; others require additional doses and boosters.
