Body

If you and your doctor decide that surgery is the best option, a pre-surgical risk assessment will be done by your doctor, and if necessary, a pre-surgical testing appointment will be scheduled.

During this appointment, a nurse will perform an assessment and interview to determine what tests are required prior to surgery and obtain your medical history. Any lab tests, EKG and/or chest x-ray if required will be completed.

If a medical physician evaluation is indicated, or you need to be seen by an anesthesia provider, that will take place at the time of your PST appointment as well. This enables the surgeon performing your procedure to have a better understanding of your current medical condition, address any identified risk factors and avoid possible delays on the day of your surgery.

You will also be given instructions and information for the day of your surgery and have the opportunity to ask and address any questions or concerns.
