"Patient and nurse in CTICU"Garnet Health’s state-of-the-art Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) at the Peter Frommer, M.D. Heart Center is dedicated to caring for patients recovering from cardiothoracic surgery. The CTICU team carefully monitors and treats patients who have undergone complex heart surgeries.

Our Magnet recognized nursing team specializes in delivering individualized, high quality patient care, post open-heart surgery. Like our cardiothoracic surgery program, we are the first CTICU in Orange County. 

CTICU Facilities

We offer 10 private CTICU rooms equipped with the latest in advanced technology to offer enhanced safety while providing the highest level of cardiac monitoring. Our nurse patient ratio is 1:1 during recovery allowing our care team to immediately address any subtle changes in a patient’s status. There are only two visitors permitted at a time during visiting hours

Your CTICU Team

Patients and their family members will be engaged in all decisions. 

Patients will stay in the CTICU for approximately 24-48 hours, allowing them to stabilize before transferring to step-down care in the same unit, with continued advanced care and monitoring. 

Flowers and balloons are not permitted in CTICU while a patient is recovering.
