28th Annual Healey Brothers Golf & Tennis Classic
On June 17th, Garnet Health Medical Center held its 28th Annual Healey Brothers Golf & Tennis Classic. The hospital’s annual charity event took place at two locations concurrently, Golf Club at Mansion Ridge in Monroe, and West Hills Country Club in Middletown. There were 268 golfers and 5 tennis players.
The event netted over $250,000 in proceeds and will benefit the expansion of the Hospital’s Emergency Department.
The Hospital’s plan is to increase the number of treatment bays to over 90 bays. It is a true reflection of how our hospital plans to meet the continued residential and business growth in this area.

Grand prizes were given to those who beat the CEO or CMO, and players had a chance to win a car sponsored by Healey Brothers on the “Hole in One” challenge hole.
Marisa Sarbak from Channel 12 News emceed the dinner portion of the event where she led the program for the evening and announced winners.
This event would not have been possible without the efforts and support of the Healey Brothers, the Foundation’s Board and Team, and the countless number of volunteers who helped each day to enhance the events revenue. We cannot thank everyone enough for their support.
There were 268 Golfers and Five Tennis Players Between Two Golf Courses.

It Wasn’t So Warm For Our Global Event
In our world of philanthropy, things are fairly predictable. There are obvious variations in the market, sudden changes and at times, quick lefts and rights.
But we were reminded on November 15 that Mother Nature is not always predictable. While weather forecasters told us one thing, well, something quite different happened.

If you were a donor to the Global Reception For Good Health and chose safety over a wonderful night, we applaud your decision. We were ready to receive our guests complete with a band, food stations, audio visual system and a beautifully decorated Great Hall at the Brotherhood Winery. The intensity of the storm gathered quickly by 5:00 and we began calling people and advising them not to come. Many were already calling us to say they did not want to attempt the trip. The obligation for the safety for our donors was just too great.
Our greatest concern was for those whose telephone numbers we did not have with us at the event. Please accept our apologies if you were among them. In the end, two very special sponsors from Bates Forum and Oracle did make their way to the Winery. We were grateful for their good humor and understanding. They, along with staff, all made it home safely after a long night of travel.
We did pay the Winery, our caterer and a truly wonderful band. We also printed a journal and produced a video we had planned to show that night and posted it at ormc.org/philanthropyforchange. We have also posted the remarks that were to be made by Dr. Ron Israelski, our Designated Institutional Officer for Medical Academics, as part of the program. His passion for medical education clearly comes through his written words.
In the end, we will be able to add just over $30,000 to the Thomas V. Guarino Family Academic Medical Fund to benefit our medical education program.
Thank you again for your support of this event.
