MIDDLETOWN, NY (Feb. 25, 2026) — Garnet Health recently announced the recipients of the 2025 Employees of the Year Award: Jackie Allen and Jackie Slanovec. Jackie Allen works in Nutrition and Food Services at Garnet Health Medical Center – Catskills, Harris campus; Jackie Slanovec, R
N, CCRN, works in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit at Garnet Health Medical Center. Both exemplify Garnet Health’s core values of compassion, excellence and dedication.
Jackie Allen, Nutrition and Food Services, Garnet Health Medical Center – Catskills
Jackie’s compassion and generosity toward others are nothing short of extraordinary, from paying for customers’ meals to picking flowers outside for staff, she consistently goes out of her way to brighten someone’s day and support those around her.
When she learned that a co-worker did not have reliable transportation, Jackie refused to simply stand by. She quietly organized a secret fundraiser to purchase a motor scooter, rallied staff members to contribute and remained determined to make it happen. When the funds fell short, she personally covered the remaining expense herself to ensure her co-worker would have dependable transportation. Thanks to Jackie’s selflessness and initiative, a teammate now has greater independence and peace of mind.

Jackie is the kind of person who makes a difference—always with compassion and care. Her dedication and willingness to go above and beyond make her an essential part of the care team.
From supporting a family facing the loss of a loved one to providing comfort and reassurance at every visit, Jackie ensures families feel supported during the most difficult times. Without her presence, the family experience would not be as meaningful or comforting. 
These examples are just a small reflection of the many ways these two honorees make a difference. Through their kindness, compassion and hospitality, they create a welcoming environment that patients and families genuinely feel and appreciate.
