Community Programs at Garnet Health
At Garnet Health, we are committed to community health work - as we believe that our mission to improve the health of our community goes beyond the clinical services we provide at our facilities. We provide health resources and education to our community in an effort to improve the health of families and support wellness proactively through:
- The promotion of healthy lifestyles
- Educational resources
- Free classes, seminars, support groups and screenings
- Training and disease prevention
We also participate in and sponsor numerous community events including but not limited to health fairs, walks/runs, conferences and other health related efforts. Our programs are available to attend community-based organizations, schools, churches and faith-based institutions, government entities, local businesses, and civic and professional organizations.

Blood Drives
We partner with the American Red Cross to offer blood drives at Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown and Garnet Health Medical Center – Catskills in Harris.
Fresh Rx Program
In conjunction with Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE), the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and SNAP-Ed, Garnet Health has adapted the CCE Sullivan Fresh Rx program. This grant funded program will be providing participants who qualify up to $120 to be spent at partnering Farmers’ Market during active season or receiving produce boxes for that amount. Those who want to join the program need to be 18 years of age, Medicaid eligible or SNAP eligible, and have at least one of the following diet-related diagnoses: hypertension, obesity, prediabetes, diabetes or cardiovascular disease. English and Spanish speaking adults are welcomed.

Know Your Numbers
Garnet Health’s comprehensive Community Health services include the Know Your Numbers Program, a free mobile service that determines your risk of heart disease or signs stroke. If you’re interested in learning more about this program or inviting us to attend an event please call 845-333-2632.
Speakers Bureau
Garnet Health is committed to providing exceptional health care the community and addressing community wellness by educating on a range of health and wellness topics. Warrior Kids
In conjunction with Eat Smart New York, and SNAP-Ed, Garnet Health has developed a program called Warrior Kids which is designed to inspire children to develop lifelong healthy habits through education, fitness and fun! Each week, participants of the program benefit from a 30-minute educational session followed by a 30-minute high-energy workout, both led by an accomplished fitness instructor.
The program emphasizes the 5-2-1-Almost None formula for being a healthy kid:
- Eat 5 or more servings of fruits and vegetables per day
- No more than 2 hours of screen time per day
- Get 1 hour of physical activity per day
- Almost None of your drinks are sugary beverages
- Warrior Kids is offered to large groups of campers or students for four consecutive weeks. Each child who completes the program receives a certificate and a free Warrior Kids gift bag.

Our Support Group program brings people together to form a support system offering strength, collaboration and emotional resilience.
