August is National Breastfeeding Month and Catskill Regional Medical Center invites nursing mothers to attend a Latch-On in the Garden event on August 1 at 11:00 a.m. The gathering will be held in the Woodland Wildlings Garden, located behind Catskill Regional Medical Center’s Main Campus at 68 Harris-Bushville Road in Harris.

The Latch-On in the Garden event raises awareness of the importance of breastfeeding and includes time to share experiences with fellow breastfeeding mothers, as well as guided learning. All breastfeeding mothers are invited to attend. There will be gifts for and refreshments will be served.

National Breastfeeding Month is celebrated every year in August to encourage breastfeeding and improve the health of babies around the world.

A free Breastfeeding Support Group is also hosted by Catskill Regional Medical Center on the first and third Thursday of every month. The group meets from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Hospital’s Medical Library and helps mothers gain support and learn from other nursing mothers. The class is facilitated by Stephanie Sosnowski, an International Board-certified Lactation Consultant with the Maternal-Infant Services Network. For additional information on this support group, call 845-707-1339-3507 (Para Español, llama 845-707-5967).
