The Greater Hudson Valley Health System, comprised of Orange Regional Medical Center, Catskill Regional Medical Center, Orange Regional Medical Group, Catskill Regional Medical Group, Orange Regional Medical Center Foundation and Catskill Regional Medical Center Foundation, today supports Health Records on iPhone, which brings together hospitals, clinics and the existing Apple Health app to make it easy for patients to see their available medical data from multiple providers whenever they choose.
“Health Records on iPhone integrates with the Greater Hudson Valley Health System’s MyChart,” said Greater Hudson Valley Health System Chief Innovation Officer Brian Tew. “MyChart is a proprietary and secure web-based management tool that connects patients to their personalized health record online – from anywhere, at any time. Greater Hudson Valley Health System has been offering it to patients since 2014.”
Apple worked with the healthcare community to take a consumer-friendly approach and created Health Records based on Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR), a standard for transferring electronic medical records.
Once the Health app is opened, and the patient selects Greater Hudson Valley Health System from within the Health Records directory, it will take them to their MyChart patient portal credentials. Now, patients will have medical information from participating institutions organized into one view, covering allergies, conditions, immunizations, lab results, medications, procedures and vitals, and will receive notifications when their data is updated. Health Records data is encrypted and protected with the user’s iPhone passcode, Touch ID or Face ID.
“This app can help patients take possession of their own information,” Tew added. “They can better understand their health history, have more informed conversations with physicians and family members, and make future decisions.”
